Registering a company in KRS is the moment when the company appears in the National Court Register and begins to operate formally. For many founders it is a key stage, because without the entry it is hard to speak of full readiness to operate. Below you will find a practical description of how KRS registration works, what documents are needed and what to do after the entry so you do not get stuck on the next formalities.

Update: 5 March 2026

In brief:

  • KRS registration requires complete documents and consistent data.
  • The most common delays result from formal deficiencies or inconsistent information.
  • After the entry it is worth verifying the company data and organizing the initial obligations.

When a company is subject to KRS entry

KRS includes, among others, capital companies and some partnerships. This means that already at the stage of choosing the legal form it is worth checking whether the future company will be registered in KRS or in another register. For comparison, a civil partnership is not entered in KRS and its registration looks different. If you are considering several forms, compare KRS requirements with the alternatives.

Documents and data needed for registration

Agreement/deed and attachments

Preparing a complete set of documents is the simplest way to avoid requests and delays. Most often you will need:

  • the company agreement or deed of incorporation,
  • declarations required by the registration procedure.

Shareholders, governing bodies and address

You will also usually need:

  • data of shareholders and governing bodies,
  • the registered office address and contact details,
  • information on the scope of activity.

The exact scope depends on the company type and the chosen filing route. For a limited liability company there are often additional statements concerning share capital and contributions. If you plan an LLC registration, it is worth preparing the data in a structured way in advance.

Checklist before filing

  • Check the consistency of shareholders and governing bodies data across all documents.
  • Make sure the agreement/deed is signed in the correct form for the chosen route.
  • Verify the registered office address and contact details.
  • Prepare the scope of activity precisely and in line with your plan.
  • Determine who files the application and what electronic signatures will be required.

KRS registration — step by step

Application, fees and corrections

In most cases the process follows a similar pattern, although details depend on the company type and filing route. A typical sequence is:

  • preparing the application and attachments,
  • filing the application in KRS/eKRS,
  • paying registration fees,
  • formal verification by the court,
  • entry in KRS or a request to correct deficiencies.

At this stage consistency of data and completeness of documents are crucial. If you are considering the online route, see the guide on online company registration in S24.

Common problems and how to avoid them

The most frequent issues are:

  • incomplete documents or missing statements,
  • inconsistencies in shareholder or governing body data,
  • incorrect or outdated address data,
  • overly general scope of activity.

To avoid this, prepare a checklist before filing and double-check all data. If in doubt, it is better to clarify the documents early than to correct them after a court request.

What to do after the KRS entry

The KRS entry is an important moment, but it does not end the organizational process. After the entry you need to take care of practical matters: organize company data, verify the entry and prepare for ongoing obligations. It is worth knowing what the KRS entry means and what comes next, because this helps avoid unnecessary delays at the start.

Registers, numbers and initial obligations

After the entry, take care of basic numbers and order in documents and prepare the company for its first administrative obligations. This stage often requires completing data and organizing internal processes.

Post-entry mini checklist

  • Verify the entry data and download an up-to-date extract.
  • Establish internal rules for representation and document flow.
  • Prepare basic procedures and split responsibilities.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
