How does the calculator work?

The calculator estimates severance for employer‑side dismissals (collective redundancies, insolvency) and lets you estimate retirement severance by entering the number of months from your employer rules. For other reasons (e.g. disciplinary dismissal, resignation) severance is not due — result 0. Enter the dismissal type, monthly gross pay, seniority and — if applicable — the retirement‑severance months.

FAQ

When is severance pay due on termination?: Severance is due for collective redundancies or employer insolvency (redundancy act). Retirement severance applies when employment ends in connection with retirement — the amount follows the Labour Code or internal rules/collective agreements. If not due, set 0.
How much is severance on collective redundancy?: Depending on service with the employer: under 2 years — 1 month salary; 2 to 8 years — 2 months; over 8 years — 3 months. Severance cannot exceed 15 times the minimum wage (Collective Redundancies Act art. 8).
Is there severance on termination by mutual agreement?: Only if the termination is part of collective redundancies (statutory conditions met: number of dismissals, reasons). Mutual agreement alone without a collective context does not entitle to severance — in the calculator choose «Other reason», result 0 PLN.
What service counts for severance?: Service with the employer where the termination takes place. Service with previous employers is not added. In the calculator enter service in years (e.g. 5.5 for 5 years and 6 months).
Is severance capped?: Yes. Severance cannot exceed 15 times the minimum wage (check the current MRPiPS announcement). For very high salary the amount is cut to this limit.
When is severance 0 PLN?: When the dismissal does not fall under statutory cases (e.g. disciplinary dismissal, resignation) or retirement severance is not due — set 0. The calculator will show 0 PLN.
