Consumer car leasing is leasing for private individuals. It works similarly to business leasing, but requirements and documents are tailored to consumers. If you want to finance a car without running a business, it is one of the available options alongside loans and long‑term rental.

Who can use consumer leasing

It is available to individuals who:

  • have stable income,
  • can document creditworthiness,
  • meet the lessor’s requirements.

In practice, the evaluation is similar to a bank loan.

How consumer leasing works

The contract includes a down payment, monthly instalments and a buyout at the end. The instalment depends on car value, term, down payment and buyout. Compare variants in the leasing calculator.

Costs and down payment

A higher down payment lowers instalments but increases upfront cost. A low down payment means higher instalments. Always check down payment and buyout in the contract.

Buyout after leasing

Buyout can be low or high. A low buyout means higher instalments, a high buyout lowers instalments but increases final payment. If you plan to keep the car, check the total buyout cost.

Insurance and usage conditions

Lessors often require full insurance (OC/AC/NNW) and may impose service rules. Check:

  • mileage limits,
  • mandatory servicing,
  • whether insurance is included in instalments.

Creditworthiness and documents

Typically required:

  • proof of income,
  • identification data,
  • basic financial history.

Stable income improves approval chances.

Consumer lease contract conditions

Before signing, check:

  • contract length and renewal options,
  • early termination terms,
  • return conditions if you do not buy out,
  • mileage limits and excess wear fees.

These elements can change total cost materially.

Consumer leasing vs loan

Leasing can be simpler but not always cheaper. If you want ownership from day one, a loan may be better. See:

  • Leasing vs car loan

Example scenario

A private person chooses a 100,000 PLN car, pays 10% down and signs for 36 months. Instalments depend on buyout and margin, so compare variants in the calculator and then against a loan offer.

Risks and limitations

Common risks include:

  • underestimating extra costs (insurance, service),
  • buyout value too high compared to market value,
  • limited flexibility if plans change.

Early termination

Early termination often brings extra fees or the need to repay remaining instalments. If you might change the car before the term ends, check exit conditions beforehand.

What to check before signing

  • total cost, not only instalment,
  • buyout conditions,
  • extra fees,
  • early termination rules.

If unsure, compare offers and calculate instalments in the leasing calculator. Also check mileage limits and wear fees.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
